Rahul Banerjee death: AICWA demands arrest of producer Leena Gangopadhyay, seeks SIT probe

By Gossips TV : The tragic death of Bengali TV actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has sparked a major controversy, with the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) demanding strict action against the makers of his show Bholebaba Paar Karega. The actor reportedly drowned on March 29 around 5:30 pm while shooting near Talsari beach, located on the Odisha–West Bengal border.

According to reports, Rahul was filming a scene with co-star Sweta Mishra in knee-deep water when both suddenly slipped into a ditch. Crew members rushed them to a hospital in Digha, where doctors declared Rahul brought dead. His sudden demise has raised serious concerns about on-set safety and negligence.

AICWA has now escalated the matter by sending a formal letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate intervention. The association has alleged that no proper safety protocols were followed during the shoot, leading to the fatal incident. It has demanded the registration of an FIR under murder charges against producer Leena Gangopadhyay, production house Magic Moments Motion Pictures, including Saibal Banerjee, and the streaming platform JioHotstar.

Additionally, AICWA has called for a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe and stricter enforcement of safety regulations across film and television sets to prevent such incidents in the future.

Local police have also revealed that the production team neither informed authorities nor secured necessary permissions for shooting at the location. An investigation is currently underway. Rahul’s funeral took place on March 31, 2026, in Kolkata.
